Woah, haven't updated in a long while! I've been to Kamicon and so many lolita meetups in the interim since I last wrote here. I've got a full time job now which keeps me decently busy, but I've been trying to update at least once a week at my main blog, Beyond Kawaii.
Lately, I've been getting back into drawing with pencils. I've missed my attempts at art during my long hours in a cubicle each week, so drawing after work, no matter the quality, has given me a good outlet. As a child, I liked to draw, but I felt discouraged from all my artistic pursuits as I grew up. My family wanted me to focus on things that would provide a future for me like science and technology, but in my heart, I know that's not who I really am. I'm glad for the opportunities that I've had but sad for lost years of drawing and poetry where I could have honed my craft. Oh well. There's only today, and I'll look forward to the future.
What finally got me out of my stupor was being inspired by the art of ヒグチユウコ, Higuchi Yuko. I saw her artbook while browsing the fashion magazine Zipper, and I was entranced with the cover photo image of two cats standing up right on their black octopus legs. I love whimsical art, so I've got that book on its way to me from cdjapan now. I want to draw as gorgeous of pictures as she does with her ink pens. I'll just have to aim for the stars, and if I even manage to get to the moon, I'll be happy.
